So, life as an Art Academy student has gone on and on. And yes, I'm still hanging in there, creating stuff, making process, all that. Which kind of surprises me, to be honest. It's not that I wouldn't have expected me to get through eight weeks of Art Academy, it's just... Well, I'm surprising myself haha. Which is kind of a good thing. Sometimes, I'm even doubting whether or not Graphic Design is really what I want to get into, or if I should look into doing Fine Arts... It's funny because about a week ago or something I had a conversation with my mentor and she told me to surrender to the studies more and not say ahead of time what I will choose later on. Seems like that's what I'm doing then, haha.
This week is the last week of this term, meaning I have reviews on all four of my subjects. I've had two so far: Serial Image and 3D-Image. For Serial, I ended up with a series of fourteen photos, which got me a 60% (meaning I also got my points, yay!). I was quite happy with them myself, too. For 3D, I ended up with a completely uncontrolled, sort-of-3-dimensional, sort-of-messy collage-like something haha. My teacher said he really liked the work. I got a 60% on this subject as well. Thursday I have another review, for Image & Concept, for which I'm going a little more towards Graphic Design and I'm using the Dutch Railways-corporate identity as a base for my work. I'm quite enthusiastic about this myself, so I hope to score high there as well.

"So why does your latest deviation date from June this year, then?", you ask. Well, to be really honest, I almost feel as though the work I create for school is not suitable for this community most of the time. I've created lots of abstract collages in the past weeks that I really appreciate myself, as a personal process and a personal visual language or vocabulary. However, I do not feel a photo or deviation of them on this community would really capture their meaning. Then again, I also made quite some nice photos and am working on some fun graphic designs. I might upload some of those later.
